While Forum won't take place as a live event this year, we're committed to bringing you the same quality programming that we deliver each year in person. Educators are facing unprecedented challenges, and we're here to support you in delivering quality education to all students. This year's Forum will provide higher ed and K–12 educators the space to focus, reflect, and respond to the critical issues of the day.
Program & Schedule Information
Virtual Forum session content will be available in September. Until then you can view the schedule of the conference on the Program page and check out the changes we have made to our programming below.
We listened to our members and adjusted the schedule to offer our attendees flexibility, recognizing the demands on attendees’ time and responsibilities. Here are some ways we are developing virtual Forum to meet the needs of our members and attendees.
- Each day provides approximately 4-hours of content, with all sessions running 45-minutes in length.
- We will offer some sessions twice so you don’t have to miss them if you have a conflict.
- More Roundtable sessions so attendees can discuss the unique challenges facing students and educators this year
- The College Fair will take place on two days for 30-minues each day
- Networking opportunities will still be available to meet and connect
- We have built in plenty of breaks; we know there is screen fatigue
Here is information on the types of sessions and content available at Virtual Forum 2020:
Virtual Plenary Sessions
Forum plenary sessions bring together dynamic thought leaders to address access and success issues that challenge—and inspire—educators at all levels and in all professions.
Forum Colloquia sessions highlight issues of interest across the professions and provide an opportunity for discussion. Colloquia provide attendees an opportunity to learn about policies, data, programs, and initiatives that impact their work and support of students.
The annual meeting of members and meetings of each assembly: Academic, Counseling and Admission, and CSS/Financial Assistance, take place during Forum. New this year, the regional assemblies will conduct their annual meetings during Forum. Join these sessions to hear from member leaders and College Board staff on key topics related to the work of each assembly.
Most concurrent sessions are comprised of panels of education experts and practitioners focused on one topic of significance to the K12, Higher-Ed or broader education community. These sessions foster discussion of best practices in education or highlight innovative programs to increase access and promote student success. Concurrent sessions will include live Q&As with the presenters.
Roundtable sessions are designed as a facilitated discussion on a specific topic. For Virtual Forum, we will offer multiple Roundtable options per session block. Each roundtable will be based on a theme with smaller facilitated discussions on topics based on the most common professional areas of our attendees: administration, admissions, assessment & instruction, counseling, and financial aid. Select the room for the theme and topic of your interest and join. The success of the session is reliant on attendee discussion and interaction. Roundtable sessions will have a limited number of participants.
These 15-minute presentations will highlight new programs and initiatives that promote access and equity for students. Hear directly from College Board staff on a program of interest.
Each year, Forum features a college fair that offers counselors the opportunity to meet with admission and financial aid officers from College Board member higher-ed institutions across the world. At the Virtual College Fair, attendees can visit, ask questions, and build partnerships with representatives from a wide range of institutions. Higher-Ed member institutions wishing to register will have the option in the registration website.
